This workshop is for Region of Waterloo artists of all disciplines, especially emerging artists, artists branching out in a new discipline, or established artists who are out of touch with the current funding opportunities. Small arts organizations or organizations looking to work with artists might also find this workshop useful.
You will learn how to:
find suitable funders
assembling funding for a specific project
plan and write a top-quality application
The session will examine various sources of funding, including:
Region of Waterloo Arts Fund and municipal funding
Ontario Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts
Community and Private Foundations
Instructor:
Isabella Stefanescu is a painter and interdisciplinary artist based in the Region of Waterlo. Since she received her very first Canada Council grant, Isabella has worked on projects funded by the City of Kitchener, the City of Waterloo, the Region of Waterloo Arts Fund, the Musagetes Fund, Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation, Ontario Arts Council, Canada Council, the Department of Canadian Heritage, Ontario Trillium Foundation, KW Awesome Foundation, and a variety of other private foundations. Isabella has sat on numerous juries and selection committees, including several at the Ontario Arts Council, and served as chair of the Region of Waterloo Arts Fund.
This workshop is a collaboration between Inter Arts Matrix and Textile Magazine. Funding for this workshop comes from operating grants from the City of Kitchener, the City of Waterloo, the Region of Waterloo, and the Ontario Arts Council Media Arts Projects fund.
