You have an idea, then a screenplay, then a storyboard – you’re ready to shoot, right? Not so fast!
If you want to make a film or a project that can be shown at festivals and perhaps on TV, without losing your shirt or getting sued, you must plan and get your paperwork in order. This workshop will show you how to budget, schedule, raise funds, get location permits, secure insurance, get the right release forms filled out and signed by your collaborators and performers, and apply to get your production certified as Canadian Content.
This workshop will also outline the film-making resources available at Idea Exchange.
About the Instructor: Isabella Stefanescu is a visual and media artist based in Waterloo Region. She has produced and directed concerts, plays, films, interactive screen installations and media arts projects both as an independent artist, and as the former artistic director of Inter Arts Matrix.
These workshops are a collaboration between Inter Arts Matrix, Idea Exchange, and Cambridge Art Galleries. They are funded by operating grants from the City of Kitchener, City of Waterloo, Ontario Arts Council Media Arts Projects, and the City of Cambridge as part of our on-going film series. Join us on the third Wednesday of every month to learn how to make films!
